Name Development and Logo Sketches

While naming the company I wanted to create a strong theme that the restaurant could grasp onto. Rather than going with something like Jim's BBQ, I sought to find a name that connected with the company and their process. Some names that were at the top of my naming list were Cue Logic, Fancy Porker, Proper Porker, Bootleggers BBQ, and Cue Town. The name that was at the top of our list and did the best when testing the names with a focus group was Burning Barrel Barbecue & Bourbon.

The company name, Burning Barrel Barbecue & Bourbon, was chosen due that he fact that the client loved the idea of creating a restaurant theme with the very barrels that their bourbon is made in. Additionally, the idea of using the wood from those barrels to start their grills and smokers could create a unique story for the company to connect with their customers.

My design process started with the development of some logo sketches for Burning Barrel Barbecue & Bourbon. My inspiration drew from creating a logo that connects the image of a pig to signify BBQ with the imagery of a burning barrel. I wanted to develop some concepts that show different ways that we can use those elements. The sketches can be seen below.
